It is extremely beneficial to submit your business profile to trusted local directory sites. With Google’s new algorithm for local, it appears that if your business is listed on these sites it will increase the ranking of your Google Places page. A listing on Yahoo Local appears to also be a factor; likewise for Yelp. Other directory sites include Citysearch, Urbanspoon, TripAdvisor, Judy’s Book, and Insider Pages. Another possibility to consider is a niche directory. The previously mentioned sites cover a wide range of different business, but many more targeted local directories also exist.
